Van insurance little consolation for mans death

A Volkswagen Caddy van spiralled out of control from the dual carriageway near Maesteg town centre into the River Llynfi below on Sunday 16 August in the early hours of the morning.

The fire service was called to help free the driver and passengers who had become trapped by the van. However a twenty one year old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, the driver another 21 year old man has been taken into custody to help with inquiries.

Police are asking any witnesses to the event or local residents who may have seen the van cavorting off the road to get in touch and to help build a fuller picture of the event leading up to the death of the passenger, who has yet to be named.

Flowers and messages have poured into the area and the junction of Ewny Road and Brigend Road now hosts tributes in homage to the victim of the road accident. Similarly although condolences are gratefully received any claims against the van insurance will do little to recuperate the loss of life.

Insure My Vehicle provides van insurance and motorbike insurance for car owners in the event of an accident helping to minimise the damage caused.
