Six penalty points have been issued to a driver after he used his 'off roading' vehicle on a public road without holding the relevant insurance.
The owner of the vehicle, who owns a caravan park in Bridlington, was pulled over by police following a routine check, where they discovered that he had no insurance. He was sent to court where he pleaded for forgiveness as he needed his license for his job.
Mr Dove from Four Acres Caravan Park had been waiting for a delivery of some railway sleepers to finish off some work on site, however after many weeks of waiting he jumped in his land rover to go and pick up the sleepers himself. The land rover was only used on the caravan site, his own private land, for the moving around of caravans so he had never purchased insurance. In his desperation he had forgotten that the vehicle was not insured and continued on his way.
In court Mr Dove was issued with 6 penalty points, to add to the 6 already on his license meaning he is now unable to drive, costing him and his business.
