Toyota do it again
Hot on the heels of worldwide recalls for possible accelerator, seatbelt, steering and exhaust faults in the last year comes another debacle for Toyota to shock car insurance policy holders. Now the world's biggest car manufacturer, the Japanese-based giant has warned that over a quarter of a million Lexus cars may suffer from an engine fault which could cause engines to stall suddenly. The fault lies with the valve springs of engines fitted to cars under Toyota's executive Lexus brand, but has not yet been reported to have caused any crashes. So far Toyota is investigating the nature and spread of the problem and has not yet announced a recall. There's no doubt that this is bad news for Toyota but they should be commended for coming clean about the fault despite the negative image it may cause. Accidents may well have happened otherwise, resulting in a rise in vehicle insurance claims and less chance of a cheap car insurance quote for victims.
