The Indian company that brought the world’s cheapest car, the Nano for £1250, to the market place with the technology of Moteur Development International (MDI), has plans to produce a car that runs on compressed air.
The OneCat developed by MDI would weigh about 350kg and be made of fibreglass panels that are glued together. However Tata may have bought the rights to MDI’s engines, it has not done the same for the concept car itself.
MDI themselves are looking to have a working car launched by the end of the year or by early 2009. The car would run on compressed air up to 30 mph, with an expected range of 120 to 180 miles, and then revert to a petrol, diesel or alternate fuel source for higher speeds.
