TLS the vehicle rental company has warned that if commercial vehicle owners do not regularly maintain their vans they could face hefty fines, court cases and a major hit to their companies reputation. We are all aware of the restraints the recession is bringing but this should not affect the way we approach health and safety.
Simon Cook a director of TLS said: "This is an extremely serious issue. Not only does it raise questions about your legal compliance as a fleet in all kinds of areas which could potentially result in significant fines and damage to your reputation but, crucially, could create direct safety issues."
He added: "As the recession continues to impact on rental companies, there is a real danger that some corners are being cut."
The first concern for all commercial vehicle companies should be to concentrate of the safety of their vans, as a failure to do so can cause the owner or a third party serious harm. This would result in fines that if not properly insured could cost a company thousands of pounds in compensation claims.
