Government have pulled the breaks on hard about introducing “super lorries” into the UK.
These super lorries could be as long as 34 metres which is more than double the current HGV length and weighing up to 82 tons which is almost double the existing weight of a lorry.
Safety, emissions and traffic management are just a few of the reasons that the department of transport rejected the proposal. The study that was taken out to see if these vehicles would be a good idea, and they came to the conclusion that super lorries would not be compatible with British roads.
The department of transport have declined this proposal but they have said that they are considering a modest increase in the length of such vehicles.
