Stolen disabled parking badges

Recent reports have shown that one in 200 badges are stolen ever year. London Boroughs are dealing with hundreds of cases a year where they are finding a combination of stolen, forged or borrowed badges.

Parking attendants are powerless on the streets in the UK, they have no power to demand to see badges or to seize the fake badges. The problem is rife and new tougher powers are to be introduced to question drivers and to remove fake permits off Brittan’s streets.

The authorities have started to print hologram badges and will start checking all users’ eligibility.

Birmingham city council reported drivers parking illegally in disabled motorists parking were costing the city £500 000 in lost parking fees.
