Prove your innocence

A 21-year-old male was told to prove his innocence after being sent to court after a speed camera caught him travelling at 98 mph. He could face a £1000 fine and a 6 months ban if he cant prove he was not at fault.

The driver brought back his old Honda civic, which he had sold to a friend for £600 and paid an independent driving expert £600 to take it, round a test track at full speed. The expert concluded the car could not reach more than 85.4 mph.

The driver also requested to view the video evidence of his offence, which shows the speed camera focussing on him as he pulls out of the third lane with no reading being taken. He was then obstructed by other cars in the inside lane when the speed camera 98mph reading flashed, however there were other red cars in the clip so the mobile camera must have confused the distance.

The young motorist has been cleared of all his driving offences and still holds a clean driving license. He is now in the process of trying to claim compensation to cover the costs of proving his innocence.
