Pocket money car chase

A care home’s people carrier was stolen after a 13-year-old boy was involved in an argument over pocket money.

The 13 year old, who is now 14 stole the VW Touran and drove at over 110MPH, weaving in and out of cars on the Humber Bridge. The police and the child began a high-speed pursuit across Scunthorpe, which ended after 30 miles with the child crashing into a parked car on the side of the road.

The chasing police could not keep up with the youth so the only way to track was via police helicopter. Video from the helicopter saw the youth crash into the parked car and then abandon it scrambling over walls and gardens. He was finally wrestled to the ground by two police officers.

The youth was later sentenced to 8 months youth detention.
