Tanker drivers for Hoyer UK and Suckling, who supply the 600 or so shell petrol stations across the country, have agreed a new pay deal averting further strike action.
The deal has been announced after a 4 day long strike by 600 drivers that saw some 600 petrol stations running out of unleaded and diesel on Monday.
The worst affected areas by the strike action were the south-west, west midlands, Cardiff and large parts of London.
One Devon petrol station started charging 199.99 pence per litre for its remaining fuel stocks on Monday. It has now dropped its prices to £1.20 a litre.
The new pay deal has at least avoided the next 4 day strike that had been planned for next weekend, and has lifted the overtime ban that had been in place.
However with the price of oil still rising and future protests from haulage firms likely, it would appear that drivers will still be in for hard times over the coming months.
