Parkers alerted to the danger of vehicle crime

Peterborough city county council and the local police have come up with a new idea to remind parkers in the city to be more careful about leaving items of personal belongings out on show.

The idea is to have the recorded messages coming from the ticket machines when the ticket is issued in car parks that have been regular targets of car crime. The creators of this idea were struggling where to record the messages when a local school, The Voyager School, stepped in and offered their services.

At this time the county council and the police had the idea to have children’s voices as the alerts. Parents will use most of the affected car parks so having children’s voices would hopefully hit home to them.

Parkers will hear children’s voices saying various messages such as “please don’t leave items on view in your car”.
