Oxford number plate theft crime wave
Imagine the confusion, which may arise when the police arrive at your front door suspecting that you may have been involved in a recent robbery, because your number plates were seen on the getaway car. In fact it turns out that your car is still sat on your drive, but the number plates have indeed been pinched. Motorists in Oxford are experiencing a crime wave of car plate theft. Thames Valley Police are as yet unsure of the exact reason for this latest trend, however they speculated that the most likely cause would be the use of stolen number plates in other crimes on getaway vehicles. Thames Valley has resolved to increase police presence on the streets of Oxford however they have also urged residents of Oxford to be far more vigilant in their security of their vehicles. They suggest that when in Oxford itself that motorists may wish to refrain from leaving cars in back lanes which remain mostly unlit and to use properly attended car parks like the Park 'n' Ride schemes located on the city suburbs Similarly, there are also a lot of measures motorists can carry out at home by locking cars in garages and generally keeping them off the main road, where empty cars are likely to targeted not just by number-plate thieves but car burglars in general. All cars previously targeted happened to be higher end models of the Toyota Aventis, Ford Mondeo, Mazada MX5 and Toytota Yaris and the police has asked inhabitants of the Oxfordshire area to keep an eye out for discarded number plates. Insure My Vehicle provides car insurance and van insurance to vehicle owners across the UK giving drivers peace of mind if their car should suffer damage from an accident or be lost due to theft.
