Operation Take Care targeted at motorbikes

Over the last few years particularly dangerous hotspots for motorcycle accidents have received concerted efforts by police to raise awareness to both motorcyclists and car drivers of the potential dangers.

Avon and Somerset police force gas launched a new campaign under the Operation Take Care Umbrella to promote ways in which motorcyclist can minimise their involvements in serious accidents.

The Constabulary have been hosting event across the district to promote training courses and to spread the massage of road safety.

Although motorcyclists in the area only contribute to a small number of the Avon's and Somerset's number of road accidents, the injuries sustain by motorcyclists tend to be far more severe and life threatening.

In conjunction with raising awareness of motorcyclists on the road, the police will now be able to provide a three hour training course for cyclists who are found to be committing minor road traffic offences such as speeding.
