New research by Tesco shows that van drivers are the safest drivers on the roads.

Some vindication at last for the van driving community often maligned with the “white van man” tag, with research showing that they are the safest on the country’s roads.

The stats from Tesco identify that van drivers do not make as many claims on their vehicle insurance policy as other motorists.

This coupled with the news that one in five van drivers has had extra driver training to improve their driving technique, primarily to reduce fuel consumption, shows that van drivers are not the rogues of the road that the majority of other drivers believe.

A spokesman for Tesco said that van drivers were deserving of a good insurance rate due to their better road safety than other motorists on UK roads.
