New Trakas key set to help Guilford Borough Council
A new system brought in by Guilford Borough Council will help identify accidents that occur during their refuge collections. Mick Tuffs the Fleet administrator for the Council says that: “Even our best drivers will occasionally clip a wall, gate post or a wing mirror – it is almost inevitable from time to time. However, we need every driver to understand that now they can be identified”.
The new Traka key has been input into all of the HGV's, meaning it will now be easier to identify and substantiate an incident when it occurs. Around 25 of the employees used for waste management are hired from agencies to help with the workload. Unfortunately this has the effect that responsibility and accountability has not been easy to identify. The new system means that if anything where to happen, the incident can be placed to a vehicle, its workers and the driver using it at that time.
