Research has found that more than 11 million drivers would resist informing their car insurance company the truth in order to avoid their claim being rejected and jeopardising their insurance.
A third of motorists said that if they left their car unsecured and it was broken into they would keep the truth from the insurer for fear that they would not be able to claim, however another third said that they would tell the truth and the other third were unsure as to what they would do.
Motorists may feel that holding back the truth from their insurance company is no cause for concern, however this is seen as fraudulent and will push the price of honest drivers insurance premiums up and if found out insurance companies will refuse to cover dishonest drivers altogether.
