The annual report from Department for Transport (DfT) has been published outlining that there has been a drop in the road casualty in 2007 compared to 2006.
The report stated that 229 fewer people have been killed on the roads in 2007. These statistic can be broken down into different groups. Child deaths have decreased by 28, pedal cycle death down by 7 and motorcycle deaths are down 2.
To continue trying to get these figures lower, the government have used other motor safety ideas such as banning mobile phones when driving. Banning phones when driving has been attributed to the reduction.
Other ideas are being planned such as systems to protect passengers in the car including air bags and crumple zones.
