Italian Jobs relocates to Belfast
Top Gear will be following in the footsteps of the great Michael Caine character Charlie Croker, as they stage an impressive Mini Cooper race through the sewers of Belfast. The immortal cliff-hanger, ‘Hang on lads, I have an idea’, could not be more appropriate for the three Top Gear presenters Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, who have conjured up many impressive feats before, some that have even diced with death. Hammonds own near escape from the clutches of the reaper in the high-profile high-speed car crash in 2006 is just an example of some of the dangerous stunts the presenters, themselves carry out. However self-confessed speed junkies, this latest race take the three man team into an all together different world, the underground. The top gear presenters have raced one another across Antarctica, the African desert, through Vietnam and against a multitude of other vehicles. Belfast’s rebuilt 6-mile sewage system is the perfect location to film the new mini copper sequence, as Northern Ireland Water system explained it was working hard to publicise one of the UK’s largest civil engineering projects. The original film sequence, although set in the Italian Carabinieri tunnels, was actually filmed through the half built sewage system in Coventry. All that remains to speculate is whether the iconic ‘self-preservation society’ tune will remain applicable to the top gear crew. Insure My Vehicle, who brings you this broadcasting news, provides car insurance for a range of vehicles with generous levels of standard cover with added optional extras.
