The Department of Transport has backed up its recent motorcycle awareness campaign by designing a set of new helmet assessment measures in a bid to save even more lives on the road.
The Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Program (SHARP) already rates British helmets for motorcyclists, however these new plans are set to expand the current listing with 25 more categories giving more in-depth and comprehensive safety details saving at least 50 extra lives.
The road safety minister is convinced that these new strategies will help sway cyclists to voluntarily opt for truly safe helmets and will help safety conscious motor bikers select a helmet that reflects their needs.
The SHARP ratings currently found that some helmets of the market can differ up to 20 percent in their ability to offer solid protection in a crash. These new rating are set to make the gap much narrower.
The current Think! Campaign was recently launched in a bid to raise the awareness of motorcyclists on the road targeting birth motor-bikers and car drivers.
