Green is the road to the British International Motorshow
The British International Motorshow throws open its doors today to showcase what’s new in the world of automobiles.
This year’s collection of some 600 cars from 60 manufacturers will include the largest collection of zero emission cars to be shown in the UK.
Most of the zero emission cars are already available on the UK market with the new Tesla Roadster capable of 0 – 60 in 3.9 seconds being the pin up of the electric car world.
Of the conventional cars Lotus is causing a stir with its first new model since the Elise 13 years ago. The Evora, for a long time codenamed project Eagle, has been tasked with broadening the companies market to go up against the Porsche Cayman.
Elsewhere Ford is making a big thing of the new Fiesta; with 12 million sold world-wide since its launch in 1976 it’s not surprising that the stops have been pulled out.
Other notable appearances come from General Motors with the new Vauxhall Insignia, Alfa Romeo with a challenger for the mini in the shape of the Mito.
New cars and concepts are also on show from Bentley, Land Rover, Jaguar, Citroen, Honda and Nissan to name a few.
