The joys of Christmas have come early for motorist as the price of petrol drops, with a prediction of another 7p decrease by Christmas as the price of oil dropped last week to $50 a barrel for the first time in three and a half years.
Since April 2007, this is the first time that we have seen petrol below 90p a litre, urging fuel companies and supermarkets to battle for the cheapest fuel to attract more customers.
Supermarkets, including Tesco, Morrison and Sainsbury’s will be dropping their prices throughout the week, making many customers happy. Diesel is also dropping, with one supermarket pricing it at 105.9p.
Compared to crude oil in July, which was priced at around $150 a barrel, a great decrease has been seen, helping out families and businesses alike who have been struggling in the increased costs of living.
