Fuel price protest cut short

On Wednesday hundreds of lorry drivers were hoping to give one of their largest protests yet by descending on London in a last ditch attempt to demand a 25p cut on tax on the raising petrol and diesel costs. However their hopes were cut short when only 230 lorry drivers turned up.

1,000 drivers were expected, forecasting travel chaos in the capital. In the end police accompanied groups of 20 lorries around the capital, with traffic flowing freely in between road closures.
