Ford Mondeo wins Car of the Year awards - again!
Posted on January 18th 2012
Although vehicle insurance costs are an important part of choosing your next vehicle, they aren't the be all and end all of the matter. Not even an insurance company would try to claim that! Last week What Car? Magazine announced the results of their Car of the Year competition and Ford is very pleased that the Mondeo repeated last year's success. The popular mid-range car picked up both the best family car and estate award - for the second year running. They did the same in 2009 as well, so Ford is perhaps justifiably pleased with the performance of the popular model. The saloon variant, the 1.6 TDCi 115PS Zetec picked up the family car title and best estate went to the 2.0 TDCi 140PS Zetec. In their press release Ford said that the Mondeo, revised last year to deliver improvements both inside and out, racks up well over a third of all Ford car sales to vehicle insurance policyholders in the United Kingdom. It's no surprise that the Zetec model took both awards as its standard equipment levels are high. The model offers, among others, Bluetooth, heated windscreen and cruise control, features often only available as extras. The overall Car of the Year was the Volkswagen up!, the new small car which will replace the Fox in the United Kingdom when it is launched in March 2012. This all new city car is sure to find favour with those for whom ultra-low running costs, including vehicle insurance, are the highest priority.
