Ex-Diana Dors Car Fails to Reach Estimates
A car described as "the most extravagant and beautiful car coach built car in existence" sold for $3,000,000 last week, and you can rest assured the new owner's vehicle insurance premium will not be low either. But the car, a 1949 Delahaye 175 S with a stunning art deco roadster body by French coachbuilder Jacques Saoutchik, sold for roughly half the expected amount. RM Auctions, who sold the car during the annual Montery collector car festival over 13th-15th August, had posted pre-sales estimate of between $4 to $6 million. The auctioneers also came up with the description above, although there is no denying that the stunning, sweeping, turquoise and chrome body is breath-taking. It has star provenance as well. Diana Dors either bought or was given the vehicle (depending on who you read) at the age of seventeen. She couldn't drive at the time so the getting a low vehicle insurance quote would not have bothered her. News brought to you by Insure My Vehicle, providing you with a high standard of vehicle insurance tailored to your needs.
