Electric Vehicle Insurance with Style
Another entrant in the electric commuter vehicle market, the quirky but not wholly ridiculous-looking Tazzari Zero, comes from Italy. It arrives in England later this month and should attract low vehicle insurance premiums. The tiny Zero is powered by lithium-ion batteries and has a range of just under ninety miles on a full charge. It is restricted to 62 mph (100km/h) to qualify for the European "quadricycle" category. This unfortunately means it won't be treated by the UK government as a car and therefore is unlikely to be eligible for the upcoming £5,000 grant that will be given to buyers of electric cars. Like other fully electric cars the Zero will be exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge, attracts free parking in London and many other areas, and business users can qualify for tax incentives. So it's not just the vehicle insurance that will be competitive. Prices start at £21,500 from specialist electric vehicle retailer Electric Vehicle Stores.
