1,000 filling stations could be without fuel by the end of today as petrol pumps begin to run dry, resulting in the latest tank drivers strike, experts have warned.
With the strike not due to finish until Tuesday evening, 1 in 9 petrol stations will be without fuel by this evening, pushing up the price of petrol and diesel. The average price is currently 116.9p a litre for petrol and 131.9p for diesel, however some petrol stations have been capitalising on the strike and increasing prices to 129.9p for petrol and 144.9p for diesel.
Unless the dispute is resolved for the tanker drivers, the Unite Union has warned that they will re-strike next weekend.
