Approximately 24million motorists will be affected by hay fever symptoms while being behind the wheel of a car this summer.
Research out this week estimates that 2 million drivers have been affected by hay fever to the extent that they have had an accident, near miss, or temporarily lost control of their vehicle.
Worryingly 21 per cent of drivers who suffer from hay fever have admitted to taking their hands off the wheel in a sneezing fit with a third saying that they have taken their eyes off the road in the search of a tissue.
Some tips to reduce sneezing while driving are, keeping windows closed while driving, avoid travelling in the early evening as this is the time that the pollen count is usually at its highest, regularly vacuum your car and clean surfaces with a damp cloth and ensure any medication taken is non-drowsy before driving.
