Diabetic drivers given life or death warning
A life or death warning has today been issued by Police to diabetic drivers, after a string of road smashes after them becoming hypoglycaemic (when their blood sugar levels drop) at the wheel.
It is vital that diabetics should follow advise given by Diabetes UK, such as carrying around some form of glucose at all times including when driving, whether this is a sugary non-diet drink or some glucose tablets.
Diabetics are warned that If you are driving and start to suffer the symptoms of hypoglycaemia, which can include hunger, sweating, faintness, nausea or headache you should pull over as soon as safe to do so. If you have difficulty in recognising these symptoms then driving should be avoided.
