The Preston based Commercial Vehicle specialist, Leyland Auto, has voiced there concern over a lack of industry awareness in regards to the forthcoming EU mirror directive legislation, where they fear there will be a low level of vehicle compliance nationally.
The directive came into force on the 31st March 2009 and states that all goods vehicles over 3.5 tons need to be fitted with class IV wide-angle door mirrors and class V kerb mirrors. So all commercial vehicle driver need to take this into account and get the new mirrors fitter to their vehicles.
Leyland Auto has been informing all its customers of the change that has taken place and have been doing so since the end of 2008, they have also been retrofitting the 2009 regulation compliant mirrors to all of there commercial vehicles.
