Commercial vehicle safety starts today

The Ministry of Transportation and police in Northumberland are to take part in a 24-hour safety patrol aimed at commercial vehicles. The plan is to stop any unsafe and aggressive drivers on the road, sections to be patrolled will be the 401, 417, 11 and the 17 by the OPP.

The idea behind the plan is to concentrate on commercial vehicle drivers that are violating speed and moving laws. Vehicles also targeted are those that are unsafe and not meeting the environmental emission standards. The OPP and Ministry of Transportation will also be placing vehicles out of service if deemed unsafe until suitable repairs have been undertaken.
