Commercial vehicle owners warned of increased insurance premiums
Small and medium sized businesses have been warned by insurers that they could see their insurance premiums for their commercial vehicles start to increase in 2009.
The possible rises are being blamed on a combination of factors most noticeably poor performance of the insurance sector as a whole in the last year coupled with very competitive pricing between insurers in the previous four to five years.
However not everyone is convinced that premiums will have to rise, the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) and ACFO believe that premiums should stay roughly where they are now.
It would however be prudent for businesses to take adequate risk assessments for their vehicles and operations so as to limit the claims that they make and can point to this factor when renewing their commercial vehicle insurance.
