Commercial vehicle drivers are being warned to double-check their van insurance policies to ensure exactly what they are covered for. In most car insurance policies drivers are insured as a third party to drive other vehicles, unfortunately this is not the case for some commercial vehicle drivers.

Different insurance policies offer different types of cover for commercial vehicles, it is important for van drivers to check their insurance policies before driving another vehicle as they may not be insured to do so. The Christmas period tends to be a popular season for the police to carry out spot checks on vehicles, as an increased number of people attend work parties and may look to drive home after.
