The UK Motor Insurers Bureau has launched a new campaign to drive home the message to uninsured drivers, the importance of having vehicle insurance.
The campaign, named "Stay Insured", will be launched with the theme that you cannot afford to stay uninsured. Harsher penalties are being put in place to target the thousands of uninsured drivers, who each year cause accidents costing tax payers money and increasing the average insurance policy by £30. Also targeting the uninsured has become much easier for the police forces who want to crack down on the law breakers.
Stay insured will mainly be targeted at young drivers who need to understand the dangers that they are causing to pedestrians and other drivers, not just to themselves. More than one third of the uninsured drivers on UK roads are under the age of 30 and due to their lack of experience they are the most likely to make claims on their insurance policies, so without insurance they are a real risk. £380 million in compensation was paid out last year by the motor Insurers Bureau who deal with accident claims caused by uninsured drivers.
