Businesses face parking restrictions

Business owners in Fowey are complaining over the lack of car spaces in the town for them to be able to unload their commercial vehicles to stock up their businesses.

One business owner was made to drive around the town 12 times until he was able to find a parking space to unload his vehicle; otherwise he would have faced a parking ticket.

The man, whose business has been running in the town for 38 years, said that the extra driving around the town is costing him more and more money and his concerns are growing for the environmental problems that this is causing. He has even started taking deliveries by boat from the river as it is easy than having to find a parking spot.

If a commercial vehicle or even private vehicle is seen unloading or loading there is no time limit providing they are parked within a space, however if no activity is seen within 5 minutes for a private vehicle or 10 minutes for a commercial vehicle a penalty will be incurred.
