Following a month long blitz, codenamed Operation Intrusive II, for crime in the inner city, Police in Birmingham have announced that the vehicles they have impounded for being driven without Tax or Insurance are going to be crushed today in view of the general public in Alum Rock by a mobile car crusher, hoping to set the tone for tougher action being taken on drugs and anti social behaviour.
Drugs and Firearms raids are going to be carried out on the streets everyday and Police will be working alongside street wardens, environmental officers and graffiti clean up teams to help target the anti social behaviour that is found threatening to the public.
The operation should see a 5 percent cut on crime in the city and the crushing of untaxed, uninsured and unlicensed vehicles will start to remove the visible signs of crime from the streets.
