Attacks on traffic wardens

A police investigation is being held after a traffic warden in Lancashire was deliberately hit by a car when it mounted the pavement behind him, hitting the back of his legs. Fortunately the officer, which was on patrol in Audley Range, was not injured but left very shaken.

This is one of 25 attacks since March that have been taken out on Traffic Wardens in the borough according to the council, where officers have either been verbally abused or had physical abuse involving a car.

Over the last 6 weeks, fourteen assaults have occurred, nice of which have been reported to police however no one has been arrested.

As we all know, Traffic Wardens are not our best friends but they have a job to deliver and so there is no excuse for them to be verbally or physically attacked. It has been fortunate that no one has been seriously harmed.
