After confirmation over the last few days that the 2010 Formula one British Grand Prix will be held at Donnington Park rather than Silverstone it seems that Donnington is slipping behind with the plans to re develop the site for this major event.
There has been no planning applications sent to the Leicestershire district council as yet, so speculation is rising about the race against time it will be to have everything ready for the cars.
The council have been in talks with the owners of Donnington, due to the fact that they have not dealt with a task this big in the past. But still no applications have been submitted to the council for authorisation.
At Sundays British Grand Prix Bernie Ecclestone said that he would consider removing the race from the calendar altogether if the Donnington promoters do not deliver the re developed location for the race.
In the past there has been one formula one race held at Donnington Park, which was the 1993 European grand prix. Since then the site has mainly been associated with motorbikes and cycling and more recently it has been the home to Download, the heavy metal music festival.
