A design was submitted to the Transport for London ‘A New Bus for London’ competition that may change they way we travel in the future.
The Freight*BUS was designed by Hugo Frost and it incorporates a bus with a freight lorry. The idea is to cut the amount of lorries and busses travelling by joining the two.
The vehicle can change the level of seating for passengers to accommodate the amount of people on board, also doing the reverse and giving more space for haulage.
Using this idea would cut the number of freight vehicles by 30. When in complete passenger mode it can seat 90 passengers, which is 43 more than bendy-bus and gives a further standing for 40 people.
In reverse in full freight configuration it can hold 35 freight pods, which is the equivalent of 35 Euro pallets.
