A3 August Bank Holiday Relief
The national Highways Agency is pleased with progress on the 1.2 mile Hindhead Tunnel, vehicle insurance customers will be pleased to hear. Although the tunnel itself won't be open until August Bank Holiday 2011, work on a one-and-a-half mile approach road to the south is complete and traffic should be able to use it for this year's Bank Holiday. The completed scheme will reduce traffic at the notorious bottleneck in Hindhead village and restore peace to a highly valued part of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The road will divert the A3 away from the Devil's Punchbowl, an internationally protected site, returning it to its natural tranquillity. It will also significantly ease travel times between London and Portsmouth. The new approach road will remove the last piece of single-carriageway and the last set of lights on the A3 outside London. Less stress means safer driving and that in turn brings vehicle insurance premiums down. News brought to you by Insure My Vehicle, providing you with a high standard of vehicle insurance tailored to your needs.
