Police in Cheshire have now seized their 10,000th uninsured vehicle since the legislations came in to force back in 2005, with a focus on taking a positive step to removing uninsured vehicles from the roads.
Statistics taken by the Cheshire Police show that 12.4 percent of drivers in speed related collisions are not insured, so seizing vehicles and removing them from our roads makes it safer for the road users who abide by the law.
Cheshire police have also now seized 81 cars that are either on lease or on hire purchase, in a national pilot project, where if the vehicle is being driven by an uninsured driver it will be returned to the HPI company with no questions asked. This has resulted in £794,337 worth of vehicles being returned.
